Dear Members and Friends,

Ida has passed thru from New Orleans to Boston… like so many of the hurricanes of recent years, it left a path of devastation. It's ironic/tragic that it hit on the 16th anniversary of Katrina, no doubt there will be more opportunities for mission trips to New Orleans in the next few years to work on low/moderate income housing. The folks in Mullica Hill, communities near New Brunswick and in New York are in our prayers. We were blessed that Ida didn’t decide to visit the NJ Shore! Labor Day Sunday (communion) will be on September 5th this year! Please join us either in person or online on Facebook! We will welcome most of our new members on September 12th in worship at 10:15 AM. Baptisms on both September 19th (Sports/McKenna grandkids) and 26th (Cece Skuli). The Member Care Committee (Jim Walker, Chair) will meet in person in Room 10 on Tuesday, September 7th at 10:30 AM. We will be working on the list of young people in college and in the military who will be receiving care packages from the Congregation in October. There will also be discussion about forming small prayer groups to focus on the many needs on our list! Mission Committee (Sue Ferguson, Chair) will meet virtually (Zoom) on Thursday, September 9th at 6:00 PM. This group is working on “Christmas in September” for the Mustard Seed Academy in Lukai Uganda. Together with other congregations, we have made sure that families and staff at the school have holiday meals and sundries during their winter break in December. The Mission Committee will also be considering aid to Haiti through the Presbyterian Disaster Program as well as assistance for the Gulf Coast region which was hard hit by Ida. Locally, we are also considering a request from the Bordentown Presbyterian Church who has been asked by leadership at Fort Dix to provide assistance for a number of refugees from Afghanistan who are temporarily being housed at the Base. There are many ways we can help! The Administration and Finance Committee (Steve Van Note) will meet on Thursday, September 9th at 7:00 PM. Our church finances, building concerns and planning for 2022 are on the agenda. Our team is helping with logistics at the church office for the transition of leadership/staff.

Please join us LIVE on Sunday Mornings at 8:00 AM and/or 10:00 AM for singing, and 10:15 AM for worship. Use this link www.facebook.com/brigchurch.org. If you haven’t joined us for “virtual worship”, give me a call - you need to join us! The CHURCH WEBSITE is www.brigchurch.org. My email is jrscotland@aol.com. My cell phone is (609) 457-2999.
